Nurse Facilitated Training & Education

Patients under the care of Dr Knight can expect a comprehensive and supportive experience designed to empower them throughout their fertility treatment journey. This training is facilitated by our nursing team and typically covers an array of topics.

Topics include

  • Treatment Overview: Your nurse will provide detailed explanations of your specific fertility treatment plan, whether it involves ovulation induction, IUI, IVF, Egg Freeze or another approach. This will cover what to expect at each stage of the treatment cycle.
  • Medication Administration: If medications are prescribed, your nurse will provide instructions on how to properly administer them, including injectable hormones (e.g., gonadotropins for IVF), oral medications (e.g., Letrozole), or trigger shots for ovulation. The nurse may demonstrate the process and offer tips for self-injection or medication management.
  • Monitoring Protocols: Patients will be educated about the monitoring process, including blood tests, ultrasounds, and timing of visits to the clinic. The nurse will explain how these tests help track the response to treatment and ensure optimal timing for insemination or egg retrieval.
  • Lifestyle Factors: Lifestyle aspects, such as diet, exercise, smoking, vaping, cannabis use, alcohol consumption, and stress levels, will be discussed, as these factors can significantly influence fertility.
  • Fertility Testing: Based on each individual’s history, Dr. Knight may recommend specific fertility tests, including blood tests for hormone levels, ovarian reserve testing for women, and imaging tests such as ultrasounds to evaluate reproductive organs for potential blockages or abnormalities.
  • Lifestyle and Dietary Advice: The nurse may discuss how to optimise fertility during treatment, including lifestyle recommendations, stress management, and dietary suggestions to support overall health and improve treatment outcomes.
  • Emotional Support and Coping Strategies: Recognising the emotional challenges of fertility treatment, the nurse will offer guidance on managing stress, addressing anxieties, and coping with the ups and downs of the process. Resources for counselling or support groups may also be provided.
  • Q&A and Clarification: The nurse will encourage patients to ask any questions about their treatment plan, ensuring they understand the procedures, timelines, and any potential side effects. This ensures that patients feel confident and informed as they move forward with their treatment.

By providing clear, personalised guidance and emotional support, nurse-facilitated training helps patients feel prepared, informed, and empowered during their fertility journey.
